Facebook Group … Polly Dolly – Sew, Show and Tell

I'm very new to sewing, are your kits beginner friendly?

Yes absolutely. I've had a lot of customers that are complete beginners who have managed the detailed process in making their first ever dolly. Don't forget that not only will you have a fully comprehensive instruction manual to follow, but you'll also have the added advantage of my complete video series to watch as you sew along. It'll be like having me in the room with you ... as together we sew one stitch at a time.

I have lots of craft stuff at home already, so can I use that?

Yes you could, however the items in your stash may not be appropriate or the right type to make a Polly Dolly, or the other dolls in our range. The products for these dolls have been diligently sourced, are of the highest quality and we consider them the absolute best for your dolly making venture. By purchasing our complete kit first will provide you with an insight on just what's needed, and when you come to make dolly number 2 then that would be the best time to dip into your stash.

Can I just buy a few bits that I need from you, and source other bits elsewhere?

Yeah sure, but by doing it that way you'll end up paying multiples of postage and packing if purchasing from a range of different suppliers. We have absolutely everything that you need, all in once place. You could say we're a one-stop doll shop 🙂

What dolly should I start with first?

Polly Dolly, for sure. She's the original concept for the brand and after you've made her you'll be brimming with confidence to venture out onto another different one in our (ever-growing) range. But please do be warned ... making these dolls is highly addictive, and before long you'll find that you've become a Pollyholic.

Is Polly Dolly the same as Ollie Dolly?

Yes they are the same doll body with the exact same measurements, however Ollie's hair is cut to a shorter length and he has a completely different set of clothes. You can purchase his shirt, shorts and boxers as a separate PDF download.

How long will my order take to arrive?

We dispatch orders generally on a Thursday, so do be sure to get your order in to us by Wednesday evening. If you've placed an order earlier on in the week and realise you've forgotten something, that's not a problem as we're very happy for you to 'add to order' This is simply done directly through PayPal and you won't have to pay a second postage fee. UK deliveries can take up to 3 days and International orders, up to 10 days.

Can I completely hand sew my dolly?

Oh yes, this has been done many times before by my customers. It will be a much longer process of course, but if this is your preferred method then go for it!

What are the dolly measurements?

They all slightly differ in height. Polly and Ollie are 45cm, Little Dot is 38cm and Baby Molly Dolly is 36cm. If you'd like a comprehensive guide to help you along when you're making one, then Lesley has produced a fabulous chart that outlines all the height, body and limb measurements that you'll need. This resource can be found in the top menu on our Facebook Group - Polly Dolly Sew Show and Tell.

Can I sell my dolly, or gift it to a Charity?

Yes of course you can, as long as you obtain our License to Sell. It will be a copyright and trademark violation to do so without obtaining the license. It's a very simple process to become a licensee and further details can be found using the link at the bottom of the page.

I've heard that 'bums' can't be shown on your Facebook Group, is this correct?

Haha... yeah (unfortunately) that's correct. My goodness me those little botties are just the cutest things ever, aren't they. A number of years ago the Facebook algorithms flagged up some naked dolly's on my group and because an algorithm can't distinguish between a dolly and a person this content was deemed as 'going against their community standards'. I received a warning that no such similar content should be shown on the group again, which would put it at risk. So yeah, sorry, but no bare bums can be shown on the Facebook Group. On here, my own website I can show off as many naked 'bums' as I so desire (woo-hoo)!
